Spinal Decompression
Non-surgical spinal decompression is an FDA approved therapy that relieves pressure that builds up on the discs and nerves caused by such conditions as herniated, protruding or bulging discs, spinal stenosis, sciatica or even failed surgery. The task of relieving pain comes about as a result of drawing areas of the herniated disc back into place. Spinal decompression uses negative pressure within the disc, referred to as negative intra-discal pressure. This essentially creates a vacuum to draw the bulging/herniated disc material back into the disc space, which then relieves pressure.
As the ligaments that hold disc material in place become stretched or torn due to bulging and herniation, spinal decompression strengthens the ligament bands that hold the disc material in place to help heal and prevent any future recurrence.
People who suffer from low back pain, sciatica, lower extremity pain, numbness and tingling, and herniated or bulging discs are often helped by this procedure, and often when medications, injections or surgery have failed. If you suffer from any of these pains, NY Rehab can assist you with expert care.
